Inefficiency versus interference in the cooperative transport: coordination costs

The transportation of objects, including food, can fluctuate between inefficiency and interference, depending of the amount of ants involved in the transport process and their experience. We study the factors that may determine the inefficiency behaviors, and agglomerations that generate interference during the transport of objects, including extrinsic factors such as weather, terrain type, etc., and intrinsic factors such as experience and the characteristics of transported object.

We are a team of researchers that employ ants mainly to answer questions of conceptual interest about topics in ecology and behavior.
